Speaking with Abby Johnson at SES Chicago about the concept of “Social Media Dating.” I programmed the Small Business track at SES Chicago this past December and during the Social Media panel, I shared the concept of looking at social media as a dating relationship rather than a sales process.
The goal was to help shift marketing mindsets from a laser focused sales process to a more realistic understanding of the need to invest in listening, romancing and thinking long-term when it comes to potential customers.
Abby and I also spoke about some of the common misconceptions about viral marketing and why some of the best viral campaigns are the ones you’ll never hear about.
